Bored now...

So, the Fiery Furnaces. Boy, that was different. We've seen the Furnaces a few times now. They're normal this carnival folk, more like Dory Previn than anything else. Long, melodic, story telling songs with spellbinding vocals and very natural, folksy guitar, etc. This was not like that. The same songs, a lot of the time, yes, but totally transformed into a decaying, experimental chaos rocked up, danced up, hypnotic but not melodic at all. But totally cool. There was something almost of a millenial fairground about it. And then it was almost rockabilly. It was very good to see someone do something interesting and different and not very audience friendly, in a way, with material that's becoming kind of familiar now.

It was in the Scala, though, which is never the best venue. It's just too nice. And the crowd was totally different than the other times we've seen the Furnaces. All well groomed girls and boys on dates. Weirdness.

Another day at work. OK. Went swimming. Which was mad. The pool was full. REALLY full... I think in future I'll go to the gym not the pool after work if I feel so inclined.

Mike made me watch SWAT. Which was bad. Like, really bad. Unbelievably the worst kind of film you've ever seen, bad. It has LL Cool J in it, the kiss of death for any movie. It also has Michelle Rodriguez in it though, although she is playing the same character as in... well.. everything I've ever seen her in. Still :)

Yesterday me and Mike went to see That Fucking Tank. Our friend Doc was to sing a single song (or shout it through a megaphone which also plays tinny jingle bells), dressed in a rather fetching rabbit suit. He pranced around the room terrorising the audience, which was a lot of fun :) The band are a two piece, and ROCKING. They're really loud. And kind of experimental I guess. Loved um.
Today me and Mike went on a long, winding and extremely wet walk around our local area. It's full of all these winding little streets with boarded up/gentrified 18th century warehouses and factories. We even saw some old military vehicles parked up in a half hidden car park. We walked along the riverside, too. And got REALLY wet. In the rain. Which was fun, actually. London is really cool, even if we do moan about it enough :) Especially when the rain has driven everyone inside :)
